Unique acquiring ecosystem created and launched in Uzbekistan

ASHBURN International with the support of the National Interbank Processing Center HUMO realized the complex project of TransLink.iQ platform implementation for acquiring equipment network management and card transactions routing.

The uniqueness of the project is that the implemented software platform together with the accompanying infrastructure components provides any acquiring business participant with access to the ecosystem that is ready to deliver transactions from payment terminals of most types and manufacturers actively present in the market.

From the point of view of banks in Uzbekistan, this project is extremely interesting because most of the existing or new terminals installed at the point of sale or service can be promptly connected to accept transactions by cards of national and international payment systems within the widest set of functions supported on the HUMO side. In particular, following the order of the Government and the Central Bank, it is technically possible to connect any processing centers in the country to increase the level of availability and development of cashless payment acceptance.

“In this project, it is important to note that ensuring uninterrupted operation of the entire infrastructure has been outsourced to a competent team with more than 25 years of experience in the payment industry. Thus, banks are able to provide the most competitive solutions for the merchants they serve with minimum investment and risk,” says Žoržas Šarafanovičius, Executive Director of ASHBURN International.

The implementation of the project became possible due to close cooperation with the HUMO team. ASHBURN International would like to thank Shuhratbek Kurbanov, Andrei Kravchin and Islam Daniyarov for their help in implementing the project.

In particular, the implemented project implied the installation of the necessary special infrastructure (server, network and crypto equipment, as well as software solutions for network and process monitoring) in the data center HUMO with the ability to provide secure access for control by partner banks.

Partner banks have an opportunity to offer acquiring services for large retail chains and small and medium-sized businesses on the basis of both standard payment terminals (free-standing, built-in or integrated with cash desks) and comprehensive solutions that combine these devices with online cash desk functions. Support of cash register function and online fiscalization was successfully implemented by SmartOne Club partner.

The first full-fledged payment and fiscal transaction with the use of modern multifunctional terminal Smart Peak, running on the Android operating system, was carried out on March 17, 2022 using the card of the HUMO payment system in one of the points of sale in Tashkent. The first partner bank Aloqabank, connected to the ecosystem, acted as the acquirer.

The advantage of “three-in-one” terminals (cash register, online fiscalization, card acceptance) is an increased level of convenience for the point of sale employee. Such devices allow customers to save time needed to pay for purchases or services.

In the coming weeks, more than 1,000 outlets will be equipped with universal devices with a fully working solution on Smart Peak terminals. By the end of the second quarter, that number could reach 40,000-50,000.

One of the main tasks of the project today is to provide as many financial institutions of Uzbekistan as possible with access to the created ecosystem, solving the most difficult technical problems and ensuring minimum time to market for new acquiring services of partner banks themselves.
